In-depth one-on-one interviews with end SDFE’s users and editors, to dig deep into what concerned the users, what they dreamt about, and how their platform really worked.

SDFE wanted to gain more insight into the user’s needs and how this could fuel the future development of their solution. They wanted to know more about how the reporting portals worked, to ensure a smooth update of basic data, map elements, and how the internal organization is built.

Constructing the user guide with 11 different tasks to learn about the respondent’s successes and frustrations. We collected highly useful insights about the reporting portals, how the complex navigation affected the users daily tasks, and how to create user engagement.

Some screendumps of the different tasks during the interviews:
Before doing any actual design modifications, we made some recommendations based on the gathered data from the user interviews. Some of the recommendations are listed below:
  - Use more colors
  - Give it a new, modern design so it's comfortable to look at
  - Use a language that everyone understands
  - Think about the users' qualifications - not everyone is a data architect
  - Make the search much simpler a la Google
  - Spread the knowledge of “KvalitetsHåndbogen” in SDFE
  - A new name is not crucial, but perhaps something a la the “Business Handbook”. The "architect portal" is also nice
Finally we made a design proposal of the frontpage to SDFE:
